colorful, sparkling framed mirrors made from recycled soda pop cans.
I’m very excited about the creative possibilities with this “GREEN” medium.
The re-use of discarded pop cans is satisfying not only for the artistic design,
but also for the environmental benefit.
Using a mosaic technique, I put
together a “pop can painting” of recycled aluminum pieces. I personally
collect, clean and cut each piece by hand, then attach them with tiny nails to
wood frames.
The larger pieces are custom built
by my husband, Chuck. We collaborate on a design that he then builds from
clear pine. In keeping with the contemporary look, the frame edges are finished
with strips of aluminum & steel. These fabulous shimmering mirrors are
both functional and beautiful. Each completed mirror is a
one-of-a-kind art piece. All are signed and finished with hanging wire or
bracket.
